Just about every 3rd party tool that deals with Google SERPs is using the Adwords API (Google Keyword Planner).

i am a big fan of google keyword planner tool but i think we should use 3rd party tool because google not revealing all the data these days. i am planning these days to sign up with a 3rd party for keyword research specially long tail ones.

I think market samurai still have a free trial you can give that a try if you need keyword data like searches per month and competitor analysis and other metrics. if you just need ideas for keywords there are a lot of good sites out there.

I use a number of tools. Market Samurai, Google Keyword Planner Tool and recently, i've been using Traffic Travis.

I'm being to like Traffic Travis more and more as it is very easy to use. It has a free version but is limited to 5 keywords at a time.

I have not use Long Tail Pro before.

Three keyword tools are
1. KeywordEye -This tool defaults to Google UK since it’s developed by a UK team, so if you’re using it in the US, you’ll have to change it to Google US. The nice thing is that it also has options for several other countries and returns results in language.
2. KeywordSpy-
Keyword Spy allows you to quite literally “spy” on keywords. It’s a great name.
There are several features of the free version of this tool, but the one I like the best is the Domain spy tool.
3.SEMRush-This tool is also a paid tool with a free option, but unlike other free options, I think this tool provides just enough data in its free application to be useful.

Well, If you're asking about the keyword research tool, Google Keyword Planner would the final and best solution try using it with the Google Trend. I am sure using the Google Trend and the Google Keyword Planner is going to worth the most. I don't thing using some other tools will provide you the best results.

I think the problem is that most people use the Google Keyword Planner in the wrong way. You have to be smart and use some of the filtering to really get what you want out of it but once you do then there isn't too much else you need.

I still use Google Keyword Planner and I got into keyword xtreme. It gives me a bunch of long tail keywords and then I add it to the google keyword planner once again to check the volume search.
