Yelp Listings In Organic Search

Hello.
I don't know if this is the right place to ask this question as it applies to a variety of topics here on Warrior Forum.
I have noticed a competitor from a neighboring market has been employing a strategy with great success and would like to ask anyone else in this offline space if they have encountered this.
It would appear their Yelp listing page ranks for some of the higher searched keywords in our niche. Is this accomplished through the normal local organic structure or am I missing something.
For an experiment I threw some garbage links at our companies Yelp page for Branded keywords and they surpassed the companies website to #1
Has anyone noticed this or employed this strategy locally?
