As of this evening, one-hundred percent of their links are nofollow. I'm curious to see the community reaction to this. What say you?

Well too bad to those who cheat with Ezine? But Google slapped all the ones who used them as back links.

I hardly use Ezine so that doesn't really affect me

I do submit articles to them, and it makes no difference to me, either, because I'm not doing so for backlinks.

I did say, in 2010, when the first of the Panda updates struck them (in no uncertain terms) that I thought they'd missed a golden opportunity, then, to make all their external links no-follow, and I'm happy for them, if they've done so now: I think they're right. Late, but right.

One of the answers I was hoping to see. Surprised it too so long!

Edit: Not the answer; EZA. LOL

NoFollow has no impact on the true purpose of Ezinearticles.

Now all of those IM product and backlinking gooroos will have some time on their hands to go back and learn how to pronounce Ezinearticles correctly.

Doesn't matter if you get free traffic from those articles

Additionally, never write purely to give places like Ezine the first index of your articles.

Post those things on your site first (get them indexed there) THEN send them through for more exposure.

I think the people that would care are too new to know what is going on or out of the game since 2010.

At least we got up to post #9, this time around, before this ill-informed nonsense was produced by someone who doesn't know the difference between "article marketing" and "putting articles into article directories".

Why are you trying to sound like article marketing isn't DEAD? If someone said it was DEAD, then it means it was DEAD. PERIOD.

Just to clarify - not that I expect anyone gives a toss lol - but I'm fairly well-versed on the practice of article syndication, and as a byproduct, the use of article directories. The purpose of the OP was really just to see the community reaction to this decision from EZA. Good decision, IMO, and long overdue. So, yes. Was really just an academic interest in community reaction. I hadn't seen it mentioned, so figured I'd post and see what's what.

P.S : Pleased to see Alexa arrive here. I think you're likely an authority on the subject, so it's interesting to have your input.

Oh, people still use Ezinearticles.com? That's funny.

EZA has only been good for link penalties, nothing more.

If this is shocking news to someone they should seriously reevaluate their SEO methods.

I stopped using ezine articles a long time ago.

To the people who still do; how much direct traffic are you getting?

It's funny I use EZA for my thesis back then, they have a lot of useful articles.
For those who are writing for them on backlinks purpose, I guess they will be furious.

I think 2007 called and they want their SEO strategy back.

Seriously???! Ezinearticles? You need to stop everything you are doing. Submitting articles to Ezinearticles hasn't worked in ages. Article marketing died long ago. Real SEO professionals don't submit their content to Ezinearticles. If you think you are going to rank a site by submitting articles to Ezinearticles, you are sadly mistaken.

Focus on building great content for your own site. Build a following on social media. Network with other small website owners in your niche. Build links naturally from marketing on social media and other mediums as people link to your great content. Look at the backlink profiles of your main competitors using tools like Moz.com Open Site Explorer (14 day free trial).

Sort your competitor backlinks by Domain Authority and Page Authority. Contact the top sites about getting links from them.

This is just nonsense. People who understand how it works are not using it "for traffic". That would be counterproductive, and very silly indeed.

Almost none, I hope and trust. The great favor that Google did for us article marketers with their Panda updates was that we're now able to use Ezine Articles for the purpose for which it's intended without the risk that potential customer traffic will ever see that copy of our articles.

Sheeeeeesh, where do people get this nonsense from?!

This started out as an intelligent and quite interesting thread. But like almost every other WF thread in which Ezine Articles is mentioned, it's now filled up with comments from people who imagine that the purpose of using an article directory is either to get potential customer traffic from it or to get backlinks from it. And then some of these are apparently the very same people who are telling us that "article marketing is dead", surprise surprise!

Just on the off-chance (unlikely though it may seem, reading some of the garbage above) that anyone might want to know how article directories actually work, and what they're there for, and why no article marketer would ever want to put articles into Ezine Articles in an attempt to generate traffic from there (rather than for its actual purpose, which it can still fulfil rather well, thanks for asking), posts #2 and #6 of this thread will help you out: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post5068872

(And believe me, I'd love to help you out, but I just can't work out which way you came in ... ).
