Questions for those who do a lot of blog commenting

How do you do determine what blogs to comment on? How much does Alexa rank and PR play into your decision? Do you comment on blogs that aren't in your niche? Roughly how many blogs do you post comments to?

It seems to me that having a strategy of commenting on several hundred blogs or more might be the best. Though, it would not be likely they would all be in the same niche. I'm trying to figure out if this strategy would be worth attempting. Do you think it would be worth doing?

I don't waste my time commenting for no reason.

I comment because i am making an authority in the niche and would like to reach out to others who are producing great content with the intent of helping each other out in the long run. My intention is to help them first, and then in the end hopefully get something in return, but i don't need it.

At first ill leave a comment everyday for a couple days, maybe like a post or what not, then ill reach out to them on a more personal level. Depends on your niche though, mine is pretty straight forward, who doesn't want free press

You seem to just want to get a link or whatever to try and surpass them in the serps. If you came to my site with that garbage id ignore you. Is that your website in your signature? Looks like you just stole pictures from the internet and reuploaded them.

I don't think college humor (one of the more funnier and orginal content producers for humor) will want anything to do with you.

So take a look at your strategy again, why are you spending your time leaving little comments across hundreds of websites. To get links? great...

I didn't steal anything. I simply search the internet for things that I find funny. I would argue that the "funny" content is at times barely that. I'm trying to get a feel for running a site like this. I've never done anything like it before.

I don't plan on spamming anyone. I was thinking more along the lines of posting comments in blogs that I read often. Posting comments about the article that I read. The goal in the end is to get a link back.

The real goal I have is to build up this site over time. It will be as big as some of the other funny sites. I have no budget at this time. I will work hard to build up the traffic. This way I have a site that is attractive to content producers to enter into collaborations. Also I hope to make money on advertising so I can produce some content myself.

I am a persistent person and you can bet I will accomplish my goal.

I find relevant niche related blogs with scrape box. If there's a post with a high PR for that particular post/page and it's do follow with less than 20 outgoing links I will read the entire post, then post something of value that adds to the blog owners original post.

I found a local realtor with a very successful 4 year old blog that had never allowed a comment to remain on his blog that I could find.

One of his posts/pages had a PR of 4 that had to do with granite kitchen remodels.

I added a comment listing the National Association of the Remodeling Industries statistics for how much a project like that would return in a real dollar investment to the home owners. And further calculated how many years it would take for them to realize a profit from doing the job... I was promoting a granite counter top company in the same city and left the owners email and web addy link, and he approved the comment and posted back a thank you for the excellent information.

I use this technique by Mike Friedman from the SEO Pub.

Do you ever post comments on blogs that are not relevant to your niche?

Not often, but when I do it makes sense. And I don't do much of it. Very little in fact.

It doesn't take a lot of back links to rank. It takes the right back links.

That is a good idea... I do not have scrapebox and was kind of thinking about getting it but scared I would not know how to use it properly.. Is it easy to use for this method? If not I could get someone who owns it and pay them to do a scrape for me to show good blogs to comment on for my niche?

Did you watch Mike Friedman's Video I posted? It's as easy as it appears in the video, nothings changed since he made it a few years back. If you're going to do blog commenting then you need to do it the right way and not be out spamming.

Can you pay somebody with scrapebox to scrape you some blogs? Yes you can. That's the way I did it out the gate and the results were crappy at best. Fact is they were so bad that I bought scrapebox to do it myself.

Doing a good scrape for the right blogs takes time. And before you even do it, you have to do some keyword research so you know what to put in scrapebox. The most helpful thing for me was letting go or the "Shotgun" mentality I had and adopting a "Rifle" mentality.

Most of what you can find tutorial wise for Scrape Box is from people who were using it to do mass scraping for mass spam commenting (Shotgun).

You need to Rifle scrape with a laser focus then Rifle comment with an eye toward having the blog owner see your comment and say to themselves wow. This guy actually read my blog and also shares my passion and is here creating me free high quality content on my site. I like him so much I'm going to approve what he's written!

If you are asking this for SEO/backlink purposes then I will assume that this is a link building strategy you have in mind. Anyway, if you are want to pursue blog commenting then I suggest that instead of link building, you do relationship building. If you already have found high PR and domain authority blogs then I suggest you stick to those. Comment only if you have some valuable information to share or to ask. In this way you are not only benefit from getting a backlink from that blog but also you will be able to build a relationship within the blog community as well as establishing a good reputation.

This is actually what I am trying to practice now because this is good for long term purposes, and hopefully will get a good benefit from it in the long run.

This is the approach I'm going to take. I like the relationship building aspect of it.

In Google search box, put your page title + register to post a comment

And start commenting from the first page...... whether you are able to put a hyper link, a non-clickable link, or just the brand name....... all these will make natural links..

Don't comment too many in one day, and don't build links on your home page.....

You are 100% safe, and you will get benefit too....

Do it on regular basis, also create content in your site....

I think blog commenting to different niche than your blog does not work really so you need to find related blogs of your niche and do blog commenting.

I prefer to comment on the related blog post only. I don't pay much attention to alexa ranking or pr but quality content. if content is worth enough to be commented then only i comment.

Blog comments are nofollow backlinks, therefore posting comments for the sake of increasing your website's ranking is a waste of time. As a result, I wouldn't comment for backlinks, I would comment for relationship building instead. I don't pay any attention to the Alexa rank and PR of the blogs I comment on and I don't have a specific number of blogs to comment on in mind.

I comment on blogs in my niche and as many as I can comment on. Before posting my comment, I check the number of comments previous posts on the blog have to determine how popular it is and whether it will be worth commenting on or not.

You can build beneficial relationships via comments that can land you guest posting opportunities, partnerships, and more.

Commenting on blog that relate to your niche will not harm you. I'm sure you need to diversify your anchor text for backlink.

Just commenting does not work. We should try to write helpful and add value to our comments with atleast 3-4 lines. And we should comment on popular blogs as they get more traffic. And yes, relevant niche is something basic. Hope this works.

According to me, do not do blog commenting... If you have some free time, you can find RELATED to your website's niche blog, but post the comment MANUALLY! Also, be sure to post your blog on a SMALL blog (or if it has high Authority, it would be perfect).... But not on a page with hundreds other comments!
