Is it possible to target ethnicity with FB ads?

Hello,

I was wandering if it's possible to target custom audience using Facebook ads?

By custom audience I mean people that are on your friend list and mutual friends.

I have some friends on Facebook that are Asians and I want to target a very specific Asian groups of people only. Is that possible?

    I'm not sure about being specific on your list but I'm sure you can target certain countries, location, gender and even age range.

    You can set up a fan page and use fb audience insights .
    Facebook audience insights allows you to target ,age,ethnicity,
    income level,gender,consumer habits,educational level.This tool if used properly will enable you to geo target your audience. Do it right and you will be on target.

    Yes, you can do this by using "Ethnic Affinities" option under demographics. This targeting method however is only available in the United States. The data is based on people who live in the US "whose activity on Facebook aligns with a given ethnic affinity".

    Please note that the Facebook targeting solution is based on AFFINITY, NOT ETHNICITY. As explained by a Facebook rep: "What it would mean to be identified as park of the African-American ethnic affinity group: They like African-American content. But we cannot and do not say to advertisers that they are ethnically black. Facebook does not have a way for people to self-identify by race or ethnicity on the platform.”

    Thanks everyone for the awesome insights!

    Yes, I wanted to target people who liked other pages similar to mine. The problem is when I go to interest and put in the name of that page it won't allow me. Sometimes the name of the pages shows up for different niches but this one it won't show up as suggested page. I am looking to target one specific Asian group only and they are in the U.S.

    As mentioned before, you can target them directly in the USA, in other countries, you can reach them by using a good segmentation, with keywords or interests, it can be a tricky job but if you know what you are doing it will give you good results.
