Increasing post reach for Facebook

I have a Facebook page for fitness, I post about 5 times a day and have been slowly trying to get likes without too much success
I have tried via paid ads got about 400 likes so far but engagement is not great, also my post reach is awful about 10 per post if I am lucky.

Any ideas how to increase organic likes and get my content seen by more people?

    Phil,

Try running FB video ads to create the exposure for your page. You can easily get sub $0.005 per video view when you really dial in the type of content the audience are interested in.

Also, keep your videos to under 2 minutes in length, ideally 15 to 60 seconds. Don't use any soundtrack as it may be copyrighted and Facebook won't approve the advert. I don't even bother adding any audio at all as MOST folks watch the videos on their smartphones with the audio off anyway.

Next, be sure to tick where its says "use pixel", this way Facebook will be able to create custom audiences based on the duration a viewer has watch of your video.

The longer they have watched the video typically means they are more interested in your subject matter and more likely to become a fan of the page and engage with other content you share.

Once you have the custom audiences you can retarget those who've viewed more than 50% of the video and hit them with some call to action.

    Works a treat ;-)

      Thanks Phil,
When dialing in I have some short fitness video's 15 sec women demo exercises, what's the best method of finding the audience who are more likely to like the page?
I do not want to be too generic ie interests - fitness, so what affinity score when drilling down should I be looking at to get good responses?

That's all about knowing who your target audience is. It's the basics of marketing. Who's your target demographic?
There's no point sharing "stuff" related to 18-25 year old males when your audience is 30 year old women

Gotcha, I think I need to refine my audience and reduce the reach for my Ads and test them again.

It all depend on the content. Is what you post engaging, insightful, informative and genuine? if it is non of the above then you may have found your problem. Also, have you done your market research? Sometimes a lot of people fail because they have not studied their market well enough.

  • I try to tag people and other pages who would be interested in the content posted. That way I show on their timeline and their followers can see my page.

Fitness is a competitive niche so you have to pick a specific target audience and offer them content that they would not get from a more general fitness pages. I see a lot of regular fitness people getting a lot of audience this way: some who are nurses themselves, target other nurses who want to get fit; others specifically cater to people who have more than 100 pounds to lose; others market to military families and etc. If you are into bodybuilding or weight lifting what specific program or diet are you getting the most results in?

Thanks, I sell physical products and although do not market directly using Social Media I just want to increase brand awareness at the moment.
I try to offer content based around what my products can offer that way long term I am hoping to get followers who are interested in sports related information and in the future be able to offer products as a solution to their needs.
I see though I need to niche down instead of being too generic.

    Hi Phil,
How many followers do you have? Unless you have a really big audience (in the thousands), five posts per day seems a lot.
If I were you and I wanted to increase engagement I'd try posting little and often. With so many posts in one hit, it's likely that people have hidden you from their newsfeeds as they do get bored of seeing content from the same people coming through. Facebook also frown upon posting too often to a small audience as they can detect this as spam, particularly if you're having little engagement (it's a vicious circle isn't it!)

I find paying to boost the posts does increase the reach somewhat but I've never found any real value in this so far and haven't made a single sale or had any enquiry from boosted posts.

I'd work on putting a consistent posting strategy in place which should see your followers more likely to engage with you which will then increase your reach organically.

Hope it all works out, it's tough at the start but stick with it.

Use a competitition, tell them to like & share the page / post to participate and then you'd get twice as much organic traffic compared to paid traffic. Works quite well.

Do you have a blog or website linked to the facebook page? How many number of likes does this facebook page have?

You can try to lessen your number of posts. Sometimes, facebook doesn't like that you post too much. 5 in a day can be a lot, so people may think of you as a hard sell.

When you post your content, try engaging your audience with some questions to encourage them to comment on your image or video.

Find the best time to post. look at your previous posts, and see which of the 5 get highest reach. and then try posting during that time.

Check other facebook pages related to fitness and look at how people engage there. What posts get the highest number of comments?

If you need likes. Try to add friends as much you can. Then invite them to your facebok page. Also you can try exchange likes as free credits ( like4like.org)
