Mark Zuckerberg Hadn't Sold A Single Facebook Share In 2020 -- Until Just Now
The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative Advocacy (CZIA) is the organization behind the Zuckerberg family's philanthropic efforts. In 2020, it got political and donated $14.6 million to certain California ballot measures. Around $10.8 million got spent on supporting the passage of Proposition 15, which is intended to raise billions for schools and local government by taxing companies like Facebook.
Zuckerberg is always up there when it comes to lists of the world's ten wealthiest people. He's currently got the honor of being placed fourth in the race to be the globe's richest person, and Forbes estimates his fortune to be worth a cool $99.7 billion. Zuckerberg, of course, owns Instagram and Whatsapp, and he's been accused of spreading everything from misinformation to hate speech and inaccurate political ads - which has carried on right up into the current year. Facebook has attempted to launch several different initiatives in response to those allegations, including forming a civil rights task force. The company has also expanded its ban policies to include ads that make "inflammatory" or "fear-mongering" statements.
The author here says that all that aside, Facebook stock continues to rise in value every year - with 2020 being no different - seeing a 33% increase between January and November.
