A new article on Social Media Today reports that Facebook's experimental NPE app development team has launched yet another new app. This time it's a new rap music tool called BARS, and that provides a selection of hip-hop beats that you can put your raps to. The new feature also offers vocal effects and other tools to assist with bringing your music to life.

According to NPE:

"Audio production tools can be complicated, expensive, and difficult to use. With BARS, you can select one of our professionally-created beats, write lyrics and record yourself dropping bars. BARS auto-suggests rhymes as you're writing to keep your flow going. You can also jump into Challenge mode and freestyle with auto-suggested word cues. Choose from a variety of audio and visual filters to take your creations to the next level."
BARS is similar to TikTok. It has a vertical feed and comes with 'Featured' and 'New' tabs. That's not accidental. TikTok leads the way musically, and BARS wants a slice of that pie. BARS video clips can be up to 60 seconds in length, and you can save them to your Camera Roll and/or you can share them out on other social media platforms. The target market here is wannabe rappers who want a tool for putting together their tracks and uploading them to TikTok for a wider audience to view. The author also speculates the feature could see wide adoption within rap communities, saying it's difficult to know exactly what Facebook is aiming for.

BARS is the 12th app launched by Facebook's NPE team during the last 18 months, and with each experiment, the company looks to find fresh ways to boost engagement. Some of those apps have already disappeared, but most remain.
