A question for FB ad experts

I started running some FB ads a couple days ago and I just noticed a discrepancy in the number of people targeted. On the "create ads" page it shows that my ad will target 5400 people. But when I look at my ad stats page it says "this sponsored story targets 20 users."

Well, sheesh! That explains why the ad hasn't had any impressions yet.

I don't know why the two numbers are so different from each other. I'm running a post engagement ad for a FB page that has about 900 fans. I should be targeting more than 20 people. lol

Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening and how to fix it?

    Depends entirely on what targetting you have set.

    I can take a teamviewer and let you know what is wrong.

      Thanks for your reply. I used a custom audience that I uploaded. The audience has over 10,000 FB ID's, but I only targeted 3 or 4 countries. After choosing the countries, it shows that I have 5400 people to advertise to.

      But when I check my stats it shows that only 20 people will see my ad.

        Is your ad budget to low (CPC or CPM) , try increasing which ever you are using.

          I don't think that's the problem. I'm bidding double the lowest suggested CPM amount. But I'm not where near the highest suggested CPM amount, so maybe I am too low?

            Ignore the Facebook suggestions. That whole system they have is janky at times

            Do this bid a very high amount, like the max suggested or even higher (dont get scared you wont pay that much) and let it run for 1 day. See if your reach increases, if it does good, you know your problem, if it doesnt well no one will see your ads so you wont pay that much anyway.

              I tried it overnight and this morning there's still no change. But I think I just realized why.

              I ran the ad as a sponsored story to promote a page post, but I targeted a custom audience in a specific niche. The ad will only display to people in the custom audience who also like my page or are friends with someone who likes my page. I think that's how it works?

    Try to get the power editor side to work on news feed and mobile, it may convert more, but tat depends if your audience in custom id are behaving well to that
