How to get people to join my FB group?

Hey Warriors,
So I've just created a FB group.
It is in a new niche and none of my FB friends are interested in it, so I'll not be adding them to it.
I don't want to use the strategy of adding people from similar groups as friends and then adding them to my group...
Are there any other ways to get people to join my new group?
Thanks

  • Dear Artflair,

if you want to increase your fans you have to create fresh and interesting content and maybe you can invest some money on FB advertising.

    • Or you could simply read the posts made above to see the OP doesn't want to do that.
  • FB ads is the answer..
What is your new group anyway? PM me, maybe i can join
    Thanks
  • Would posting on similar groups as yours (with your regular Facebook username) be an option? Maybe you could mention your group in some way and when others click through to check out your timeline, you would be linking to it from there too.

    • Thanks for advice Sam!
Well the group isn't that important for me to mention it on my timeline... Like I said, it is a little experiment.
      Cheers

    • so your post will show up in FB search? is that it?
  • It's a little odd. You post the same thing on your FB page but you don't want to invite friends in your group. Does this mean all your FB friends? Or can you invite those friends who clearly like the content you post? How about finding people in interest groups similar to your FB group and invite them instead?

    • Yes, I post the same things that on one of my Fb Pages, not on my Fb Profile. People I have as friends on Fb are my personal friends and they are not interested in any of the niches that I'm in. The people that are liking my Fb Page (not my friends) would be the same ones that would have interest in the group...
  • I have done experiments some periods ago on facebook groups and it is really difficult to grow them if you are not thinking of FB ads,
The thing which worked for me was making FB groups regarding games of FB,
Like farmville, mafiawars, the theme of group was build your team and share resources,
So the groups in which there is mutual collaboration grows quickly

    • Thanks, that actually helps me a lot!
I saw some groups that are exchanging fb likes, for example and the people in them are very engaged plus there are no spam posts!
      Cheers mate

  • You can always sell a product or service and give them access to it upon getting on board.

Works well for me, but might not be as fast as you desire

Or simply advertise it on WF
  • Use websites wrapped around facebook apps for this. From the website, sell a product connected to your facebook app or offer them a free product but upon download ask them if they would be interested in your group.
  • Create a site with relevant content and post often. Use your site to garner facebook likes in exchange for a free service or information. Engage your FB fan often and persuade them to join your group. Of course you need to tell the main benefit of doing so.

Fbads is a good alternative if you have money to burn. But I recommend both. I have used these strategies before and they do work.
  • Popularity on Facebook needs Funny, Interesting, Shocking, Gaming etc. related posts. People get attracted to these kinds of posts easily. If people find something unique and may be said like ''wow post'' then they will definitely join and also add their friends..

    • So true. That about sums it up.

OR you can just keep advertising the link to your group in the appropriate channels. People who are interested will pick up on it.
  • Try facebook groups that exchange likes. Only those interested in your group will join you and in that case you will build an engaged group. I used it for my groups and it rocks. In fact I have to create multiple admins to ease myself of loads of adding every now and then. Hope this helps?
  • create fake accounts and ad community and add into your group otherwise search million likes page and promote your group

  • Working on a facebook group is little different from a facebook page, don't add people who don't want to interact on groups, but you can add many of people as your friend who have similar interests, talk to them few times before adding them to a group.

  • Hey, for FB groups here are my tidbits:
    1. Never ever promote your group on other groups. This is probably the most awkward thing you would do.
    2. Make your group more exclusive than your Fb page. For example. share more personal comments, thoughts on your group than on the fb page. Make it exclusive.
    3. Do you have an email list? If not, start building from today. Probably the best medium to promote FB group is through emails.
    4. Never sponsored your fb group if it has less than 2k members. No one wants to be a member of such a small community ( unless you are a celebrity or something)
    Thanks

    • Junaid has just given you some pretty good advice.

I agree that one of the main parts of working with facebook groups is to offer value, you have to tell your audience that being part of the group will have its privileges, that they will have access to unique content. It would be of help to know what is your group niche, so we can give a few advice on the content you could use.

I ran an University group a few years ago, and one of the thing we did, was that the members of the groups would have access to special live transmissions from Professors before each exam, to review the main points of the examinations, this is a good example of how you can work with privilege content.

Another thing I did: I make calls to action, so that the members of the groups will add their friends and contacts to the University group, I even made a contest once with that CTA, although I dont remember the details about that (it was three years ago, and my memory fails some time), I will see if I can find the information on that campaign, im sure I must have a brief on that somewhere.

Another key is to make sure the group will maintain clean and active once it has a good number of users, large group are very attractive to spammers, they will try to post their shitty content in your group all the time, so you will have to be careful and erase them if they do, if your group starts to be flooded with spam, users will leave it.

  • Since you made a Facebook group but there's hardly anyone interested among your friends. The easy way is to suggest, invite, add your friends to your Facebook group or page. Pages will let you suggest the page to your friends, while groups will let you add or invite people to the group. Whatever the method involved, you're doing the same thing. Letting a few selected friends know about your group or page and asking them to share it with their friends too. Make sure you send a personalised invite to the key people you think will be pivotal to your group or pages early success. Ask them to get on board and offer them an official title with your group .
  • 1) Choose a Killer Title For Your Group Name
    2) Pick A Graphic That Captures The Essence Of Your Group
    3) Leverage Your Friends
    4) Target Your Initial Members
    5) Create A Whisper Campaign
    6) Turn Your Group Launch Into An Event
    7) Include An Irresistible Offer
    8)Aim For Viral Visibility
    9)Advertise Your Group
    10) Launch Strategically And In Several Stages
  • Many times you are able to advertise your FB group just like any other business. You can write articles related to your niche and have your link to your Facebook Group in your BIO or embedded in your article.

You have the option of posting in other groups and forums inviting people into your groups as well.
