Tiffany, I wish you luck, although you certainly don't need it.
When you have a winning formula such as yours, you simply wash, rinse and repeat, ad infinitum, as I'm sure you know, seeing you have been around for many years.

I'll even be cheeky and offer my editing/proofreading services so you can focus on increasing the speed at which you write the magical words that tell your stories.

Update on where I am on this project. This is the first partial outsource I've ever done. I developed the idea and wrote a 20+ page outline with details about what should go into each chapter, details about the characters, etc.

Then I sent it to a ghostwriter to "flesh it out" for me. She did. Last YEAR (see how bad I procrastinate?) She got it back to me. I haven't read it yet. So last night, I took out my 20+ page outline and reread it so I could reacquaint myself with the storyline in detail so I can start working on the story today.

I'll probably read through the whole book once, starting on it today - before i begin editing and rewriting/writing. I want the book to sound like me. A la James Patterson and how he outsources/then makes it his own.

The other fiction will be written by me, but I just wanted to test the outsourcing waters.

Thanks Laurence! The problem I have is putting fiction on the backburner when so many of my IM friends went on to surpass my 6 figure earnings using fiction.

Oh, Tiffany. James Patterson is my all time number 1 favourite author when it comes to fiction work.

Your comment about your friends surpassing your income. While that's great for them, you're not in competition with anybody but yourself.

Never hurts to test outsourcing. I edit/proof numerous books and ebooks for various regular clients so their time is freed up to do the actual writing. I have worked with them enough to write in their voice (which we both agree is one of the critical components of the work).

So, Tiffany, maybe I ramble but that happens. Soon your friends will be jealous of your work.

A long time ago (yes, I'm old) I studied various forms of writing. Somewhere along the line, I remember being told, when you think you are done, put it in a drawer until such time as you forget what it says. Then take it out and read it with "new" eyes.

Only then will you know if it's any good.

It works for me.

Last night I took out the chapter 1 that I myself had written and reread it. Wasn't very impressed, but it was a first draft. Today I'm going to start reading the finished copy.

Not working today or tomorrow since those are non work days (as per my challenge), but yesterday I started reading the ghostwriter's version. Read chapters 1 and 2. Nice seeing it unfold and knowing exactly what I want to alter or add to the story.

Not making notes yet - just doing a run-through of the book first.

Tiffany this is definitely something you can do. This seems very interesting as Kindle has been something I've been wanting to get into for a long time, but just haven't gotten around to.

Read chapter 5 today. More great scenes to work with. I think I have 20-22 chapters total. That usually equals the 40k target I try to hit.

40k pages in 2 books, that's dedication. I hope you can achieve your goals by the end of the year. We all know you will.

That's 40K words, not pages. Can you imagine the file size of a 40K page ebook?

Think! It's not illegal...yet.

It's in 1 book, not 2. Well this time around. I have done two previous 40kers and 2 shorts. They're all fun! Can't wait to publish this one.

Update: Still reading through the rough draft. I am giving myself until the 19th to finish reading it all (3 chapters a day) and then on the 20th through the end of the month I'll edit and revise and wrap it up for publication. Planning to do 1 book a month for the remainder of 2018.

Reading a lot today. The thing that intimidates me is when I'm reading something like chapter 15 and I see something I want to alter and I know I'm going to have to alter it before and after in the book. I'm intimidated thinking I'll forget and readers will notice.

I remember in my third fiction book I forgot an edit where I'd killed off someone and then poof! They showed back up later in the book. LOL! Unfortunately it wasn't a paranormal book or I maybe could've pulled it off

Also today, I'm figuring out what my May 2018 book will be about. I'm using the Emotional Wound Thesaurus for the storyline idea.

Tiffany could you just put a high lighter over the stuff you want to edit in the future as you read thru it the first time. Or put a little pen mark by the line on the paper so you note to edit it later on ? Seems you are making good progress so far.

Right now I've put a few short stories on my site to see how popular they are. I think they will be popular. After that a natural progression is to turn threads into short stories.

Hey y'all! Sorry I went MIA on you. Well two things happened:

1. I just could NOT alter the ghostwriter's work. I felt weird, like I was plagiarizing someone else's stuff. I had to set it aside for months until I forgot what she'd written and I could start over from scratch. Some things were great, just some of it not how I wanted it to be. So I'm going to write from scratch and not look at her version. I still have my original outline.

2. Life got a little chaotic. Lots of great changes - specifically, in making peace w/my ex. We all know personal life stuff impacts our productivity at times. There was a crescendo of stress and then POOF! We made peace. Even sent him a birthday present last week

So ... life's going great. I have a plan. I did NOT achieve what I wanted to in fiction but there are still 2 months left. I HAVE been studying and learning and networking with other authors.

I have not been stagnant. In any online business branch, if I come to a point where I can't accomplish my intended goal, I try not to abandon it completely, but just tone down my efforts until I can give it my all again.

One thing I was able to do this year was fully automate my online marketing business for a week at a time while I traveled to Disney World twice. So now that I know how to do that, I went and planned out October and November's business tasks so that every last week of the month, I'm able to fully commit to fiction writing.

I should be able to complete a 40k book in a week. That's 5,715 words a day for 7 days and that starts tomorrow.

Today i'm queuing up all emails and lessons and product reviews. Then Sunday through Saturday I will be a fulltime fiction writer. I know one lady who writes 1 book a week in the historical romance genre (she's great) and another I just met who writes 1 book every 3 days in another romance genre.

I'm not that fast. I can write 40 pages a day in non fiction but fiction is something scary for me because I care about it so much. So I'm going for about 15 pages a day.

I've created a careful schedule for the right amount of sleep, the house is perfectly clean and the kids will pitch in for things this week that I normally do, and we'll have easy, quick meals.

I want to treat it like a business.

Tiffany. I am keen to know how it's gone so far because I'm foraying into the world of selling fiction on Amazon. My strategy at the moment is to find a partner to do the marketing, so I can focus on the writing. I'd greatly appreciate any and all advice. Thanks so much and all the best.
