WEB DESIGN

Hi guys,

I am looking to create a directory website where someone gets an account and depending on the package he/she purchases, will be able to post a number of listings/ set up individual pages related to him/her.

Using the Real Estate example, a realtor would pay to post listings of properties he/she is selling.

I have looked at a few:

1. Directory by templatic.com
2. BePro Listings
3. Web 2.0 Directory

I would love feedback from you guys based on your knowledge and experience.

Perhaps there is a better, user-friendly theme I should use?

There are all kinds of directory theme's for wordpress. From what I've seen, with the built in features such as payment, ect.

Think your looking for a wordpress theme right?

Yes, I have finally settled on a theme from Templatic. They have excellent pre-sale support which was a great help.

Creating new website with custom requirements would be better. Using blogs like wordpress or any other utilities will bounded your hands to have flexibility.

I was wanting to get feedback on the same thing. Best directory theme. Because of my lack of techie expertise, I need to stick with WP. I was looking at this one and the range of different types of directories to use it for. eDirectory - Online Directory Software Solution, Custom Development, Business Directory Script, PHP

I'd strongly recommend to use the directory theme from Templatic, Since they have dedicated different directory themes and plugins as per the customer's need.

  Just curious how you are planning to get the customers to pay for a package? What's the "draw" of your site? Why would people pay to be on it? Is there a compelling reason? I think it's nice that you want a good theme, but that seems to be a lot less relevant than how the site will be structured and how it would be monetized.
  
  The reason I bring up these questions is that when people start doing these, they don't realize how hard getting these up and running actually is. They're of the mindset that if they "build the better mousetrap, the people will come." It's a lot of work ...or so I'm told.
  
  But, having said that, the work you do upfront can pay off if you're willing to put in the hours. There are a few threads here that talk about that.
