Good day
I need some assistance with a strategy on how i can offer a type of web design/hosting service for my clients. I'm running a graphic design business where I do logo, posters, invitation cards etc but now I would like to offer my clients a bit a more.
Most of my clientele is Club owners and they are in need for a website but they do not want to pay for something they don't even know how to use or update.
I thought of an idea where my client will pay a small design fee and a monthly service fee.
The help I need is coming up with an easy and affordable step by step written plan for this.

    Based on your condition, you can offer to your client build a website, and at once maintenance the site. But of course, your client should be pay for your monthly maintenance. Just discuss with your client. I have some client like you, and for monthly maintenance and site update, its around 1-2 hundreds dollar monthly. I think its reasonable price for your client. Just you try to discussion with him.

      @kebumen what are the terms and conditions do you have with your clients. Do they pay you for building the site and the maintenance fee or is it a fixed amount from the beginning

        My client pay fee monthly for maintenance and update. And for the website domain renewal will be charges annually. Its good business model, because you will get passive income from this business.

    When we first started our Agency (12 years ago) we were only offering website design, and targeting businesses in our local town. We found that many small businesses could not afford the $1500 or more for a website, but they could afford say $100 a month plus hosting to lease one.

    So say $100 month lease, thats only $25 a week, or if you break it down further, only $3.57 per day. (but adds up to $1200 per year) Plus hosting say $25 a month is another $300. So that's $1500 per year anyway, but your getting this for as long as they continue to lease the website, so usually year after year after year.

    You need to have your own hosting to both build residual income as well as stop anyone from moving their website and stop paying you. We have our own hosting company but you can get shared server reseller accounts at many hosting companies. A reseller account may cost you up to $75 a month but you can host just heaps of websites.

    It takes maybe 3 minutes to set up a hosting account then you are getting those monthly hosting payments for no additional work whatever. In your leasing agreement/contract you retain the rights to the website you design as well as specify your hosting.

    The way we sell website leasing is that we make a comparison to something that they realize is very low cost.So we might say, would you spend $4.58 a day to promote your business? That's less than a cup of coffee. Or: That's less than 9 postage stamps. We emphasize that point by showing graphics of a cup of coffee or 9 postage stamps, on our flyers.

    We still offer website leasing if a business says they can not afford a website, it seems a very cost effective option to them, and actually returns us much more recurring profit than an outright sale.

        1. No, we don't give leasing clients their own logins. With website leasing we retain ownership of the actual website. If we gave the cpanel login some (not many) might try to back up and transfer the site to another hosting company in order to avoid the monthly leasing cost. In our website leasing agreement (a legal document that the client and ourselves sign) we retain ownership of the website design and also specify that it is hosted by our hosting company. We set up their emails and anything else that is required and we also do backups and any required changes to the website for them at no cost.

        We do have them register their own domain name at GoDaddy so we are not holding them to ransom in any way. At any time they can redirect their domain name to another website and host but we have never had anyone do that. (We specify GoDaddy as we can then show them how to point their domain name to our servers. We are not familiar with other domain registies)

        2. Sorry, can not give you a link to our Hosting Company. It is private hosting really, we host more than 3,800 websites but these are all websites that we have designed or that clients have transferred to our Hosting Company.

        We do not promote our Hosting Company publicly, and unlike many others in the Warrior Forum, we do not try to sell any services here. What ever my posts, I am trying to help people here, not trying to sell them anything.

        3. The hosting company that I would recommend for a re-seller account is GoGvo (com). They are an American company and very very good. They have reseller plans from around US$25 to US$50. They provide cpanel and WHM (Web Host Manager console)

        You can do a search for others if you want but they are the one that we would personally recommend. We would NOT recommend using HostGator or any that use Plesk. You NEED to have cpanel and WHM.

    In your situation, I would recommend that you consider leasing a website for them. I like the breakdown you have been given by LindyUK. First, you are not sure the duration your client will need the website. Second, since you have said that your client is a club, I don't think they will have a lot of business with the website. So give them something affordable and which they can discard when they feel like doing so.

    You can suggest to create a site and at the same time support it. Create yourself such a service, you can earn more profit for yourself.
