i would start off going for a basic cms system and use wp and use a very straightforward scheme so everything becomes clear

There are plenty to choose from, but I would say WordPress for beginners and getting started, as most cheap hosting packages have 1-click installs, and you can control your domain name, hosting servers, and integrate nearly any free or premium themes or plugins.

I've never been a big fan of the web builders and CMS platforms that house everything under one roof - by separating your domain from your hosting servers, IF (or when) something goes wrong... you can easily change your DNS (*designated name servers) and/or move your files to another hosting service.

I've never used Wix, Squarespace, Weebly... or any of those options, WordPress has been the better option IMHO.

I like to use CMS as well as Website builders. WordPress is the best and offers multiple options.

Wix is the easiest, if you are just starting out, I willl recommend Wix
