a plan for website estimate

Hi everyone!

I have no idea about creating a website and I need your help with a plan that I have. I am about to look for a web developer but before that I would like to have some sense of the expectation I should have.


Basically, I would like your help with an estimate (price +effort) for a website, but any other advise you can give me will be appreciated greatly. I also attached a figure where I illustrated the overall plan.

The website shares a lot of features with Facebook groups or Facebook company page.

Each document is created by a registered user (the admin of that document). The original admin can add another admin (invite by email).
Each document itself includes features such as photo album, ability to upload files, write text and having others commenting on your text (however, the function of commenting should be an optional for the admin), deleting/adding information, editing information.
Admin can invite someone else to view the doc by providing an email.
To be an admin of a doc you must first register and be an account holder. Each account holder and create multiple docs.
Account holder can also follow other docs.
Account holder should have a screen where he/she can see summary of the docs they created and manage (or only managed), and the doc they follow. They should be able to manage their activity (delete doc, stop following).
Account holder can also comment on other docs if this feature is allowed in that doc.
Non registered users (everyone else surfing the web) can view all docs. They can comment (without being registered) if this feature is allowed in the specific doc.


That's about it, I guess there will be FAQ screen and such but I think I have described the main points.

      I never used Google docs, but I don't think it similar or have similar purposes. I think it is more like Facebook groups pages. Only that the page will be designed for a very specific product. Once a the document is created, I don't expect much activity other than occasional post of a comment or question by random users. It's more for a display purposes and occasional discussion (like forum) on the product.

    so you want the user to be able to register create documents and users to be able to access (view) documents? will they rate them etc?

    They will look at the different features in the pages(photos, text, other documents that were uploaded) and if they want discuss them, i.e., ask a question or add a comment. I don't think about rating but it's possible. The only things I think may make it more complicated than the trivial features is that you can have more than one admin for such a page. So generally, the page itself can be like a page in Facebook is made for a specific brand, or company. The ability to have more than one admin is more like the feature in Facebook groups.
