Do Dedicated IP Addresses Matter?

Hey Warriors,

Thinking of moving to another hosting provider for a reseller account I have, based on the recommendation of someone I trust.

The only concern I have is this:

My existing reseller account automatically assigns a unique IP address for every new account, whereas it appears the new one does not (from what I have gleaned from the hosting info - I have not opened the new account just yet).

Big deal? Yes or no?

None of my sites are big ecommerce sites, although my plan is for one at least to eventually become a big authority site. I also host a few client sites.

The support rep told me the unique IP address is not a big deal like it was a few years ago. I admit I need to learn more in this area.

What say you?

      Actually IP address has nothing to do with SEO. Here check kthis out...

      I.P. addresses are asigned to spacific machines or devices such as servers or routers etc. As you'll see in the artical I gave you virtual host headers is a way for web servers to map web sites to a particular server. Meaning a server can actually host many, many websites since they are really fust a collection of folders. So what heppens is a requesrt for a website is handed to a name server which in turn resolves the Domain name to an I.P address i.e. a spacific machine. and the server software on that machine decides which folder (Website) to serve up.

    No, they don't. Also, you're about to get bombarded with the "C Class" non-existent, non-sense here soon probably.

    IP addresses do not matter.

    EDIT: They don't matter unless you're using shady tactics trying to "fool" the search engines, which then, it's only a matter of time until they figure it out; they're not stupid.
