Need some help switching from Joomla to WP

I'm with a client which has a Joomla site.

Will need to take the site to a WP theme so the Joomla platform has to go.

WP is OK for me but I never messed around with Joomla.

What do I need to look at for the switch won't get a nightmare.

Do I need to delete the Joomla site or only a specific file or nothing at all?

Don't want to delete too much for that the WP setup won't work after the switch.

    Hey guy's

    first a thanks for the above tips and links but there is a slight problem.

    Above is to move a Joomla site at domain A to a WP Blog at domain B.

    What I need to do is change a Joomla site into a WP site at the same domain.

    So I think that the only way is to delete the Joomla site so I can run a WP installation.

    But I'm not 100% sure if that is the right thing to do and what I have to delete in the root for that I don't srew up the whole hosting.

    Just want to come back and share my experience with above service.

    I tried the free trial import from Joomla to WP and was not impressed at all.

    No images and copy have been moved over, so was a waste of time as I needed about an hour to install the bridge files to make the connection between the 2 platforms.

    Maybe the paid version works better, don't know.

    I finally decided to simply make a basic copy on one subdomain, then delete the Joomla site completely, then install WP and clone the site from my subdomain to the new install using a free plugin called WP Clone.

    Worked out fine.
